When you buy wild Alaskan salmon from Kwee-Jack Fish Co., you are buying from a family-owned fishing company with a direct connection to the fish we sell. Every summer, our family travels to Bristol Bay, Alaska, where we commercially harvest wild sockeye salmon during one of the world's great wild salmon runs.
That means salmon isn't simply another product in our catalog. We know where it comes from, how it was harvested, and what it takes to protect quality from the fishing grounds all the way to your freezer.
Our wild salmon is carefully handled, flash frozen for quality, and kept frozen until it is packed for delivery. Whether you prefer convenient sockeye portions, whole fillets, coho salmon or smoked salmon, our goal is simple: give you dependable access to exceptional wild Alaskan salmon without having to live anywhere near Alaska.

Our wild sockeye salmon is harvested in Bristol Bay, Alaska, home to the world’s largest wild sockeye salmon fishery. Each summer, our family travels to Bristol Bay to commercially fish the salmon run.
Bristol Bay’s cold waters and extensive river systems support enormous runs of naturally spawning wild salmon. Alaska’s salmon fisheries are carefully managed to ensure enough salmon reach their spawning grounds before commercial harvest opportunities are allowed.
Our wild coho salmon is also harvested in Alaska. Because harvest location can vary by species and season, individual product pages provide additional sourcing details for each salmon we offer.
Yes—we personally harvest the wild Bristol Bay sockeye salmon we sell. Every summer, our family travels to Alaska and commercially fishes Bristol Bay’s sockeye salmon season.
Kwee-Jack Fish Co. isn’t simply an online seafood retailer purchasing all of its salmon from distributors. Our connection to Bristol Bay begins on the water, giving us firsthand knowledge of how our sockeye salmon is harvested, handled and prepared for the journey from Alaska to your freezer.
For salmon species and products that we don’t harvest ourselves, we work with trusted sources that meet our standards for wild-caught seafood.
Both sockeye and coho are wild Pacific salmon, but they offer somewhat different eating experiences.
Sockeye salmon is known for its naturally deep red color, firm texture and rich, distinctive salmon flavor. It’s an excellent choice for people who enjoy a more pronounced wild salmon taste.
Coho salmon generally has a milder flavor and a somewhat more delicate texture. It can be a great choice for people who want wild Alaskan salmon but prefer a less intense salmon flavor.
Neither is necessarily “better”—the right choice depends on the flavor and texture you prefer.

It mostly comes down to how you plan to cook and serve your salmon.
Wild sockeye/coho salmon portions are individually sized and vacuum sealed, making them especially convenient for weeknight meals, individual servings and meal planning. You can thaw only the number of portions you need.
Whole sockeye/coho salmon fillets give you more flexibility and make an impressive presentation for family meals, entertaining, grilling, roasting or smoking. You can cook the fillet whole or cut it into your own preferred serving sizes.
Both options offer the same high-quality wild Alaskan salmon—the primary difference is how the salmon is portioned and packaged.
Yes. Our wild salmon is frozen to preserve quality rather than relying on an extended refrigerated journey through the fresh-seafood supply chain.
Freezing salmon immediately after harvest helps preserve its flavor, texture and quality until you’re ready to use it. The salmon remains frozen through storage and is packed frozen for shipment to your home.
Once it arrives, place the salmon in your freezer until you’re ready to thaw and prepare it.
Our wild sockeye salmon is frozen according to standards intended to address parasite risk and is sold as sushi-grade. Many customers use it for preparations such as sashimi, sushi and poke.
Eating raw or undercooked seafood always carries some food-safety risk, and freezing does not eliminate every potential foodborne hazard. People who are pregnant, immunocompromised, elderly or otherwise at higher risk for foodborne illness should follow appropriate medical and food-safety guidance before consuming raw seafood.
For raw preparations, keep the salmon properly frozen until you’re ready to thaw it and follow safe handling practices.
We pack our frozen salmon in insulated shipping containers with dry ice to help keep it frozen during transit. We successfully ship frozen seafood to customers throughout the United States.

When your order arrives, transfer the salmon to your freezer as soon as possible.
Keep your wild salmon frozen until you’re ready to use it. For best results, remove the salmon from its vacuum packaging before thawing and place it in a covered container in the refrigerator.
Refrigerator thawing provides a gradual, controlled thaw and helps maintain the salmon’s texture. Once thawed, keep the salmon refrigerated and cook it promptly.
Do not thaw vacuum-sealed fish in its sealed package. Removing it from the vacuum packaging before thawing is an important food-safety practice.

Bristol Bay boasts the largest Sockeye (Red) salmon run in the world, averaging over 50 million salmon each year for the majority of the last decade.
